Welcome to My New Blog
I'm so glad you're here! This is a brand new blog for me, in fact the whole blogging experience is new to me, and so I may stumble around a bit at first, but it is my hope that this will become a place where together we can question, ponder and thoroughly examine the blessing process, discovering new and limitless ways to bless ourselves and our world. From time to time, I'll be posting updates on BettertoBless.com, our also-brand new interactive Blessing Experiment Laboratory, but for the most part I want this to be a place where you can come when you have questions, ideas or suggestions that you want to discuss one-on-one with me. I'm looking forward to our interactions.
It has been said that it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. Every time you remind yourself that you are, indeed, blessed — even in those times when you do not see or feel the blessings — or you take the opportunity to send a thought of blessing to another person or any situation, you are figuratively lighting a candle in your world. You are sending forth light particles of energy which immediately raise your own energy vibration. You feel lighter, freer and happier. And the better you feel, the better those around you feel. In essence, by raising your own vibration, you raise the vibration of others, blessing those around you by your presence and improving world conditions far more than you realize. By your blessing, you make the world a brighter place to be.
Just Imagine...
what would happen if one billion people or more worldwide spent a period of no less than 30 days blessing everyone and everything. Just imagine what such a high level of consciousness would do to the world. The impact could be nothing short of staggering.
That much positive thought energy, wrapped in a blanket of love and sent forth in a genuine attitude of care and appreciation, could radically shift world-wide trends, changing not only what is happening in our world right now, but for decades to come.
Creating such a radical shift is the purpose behind the Blessing Way Challenge and the experiments you will find in our brand new Experiment Lab. But before a change in global consciousness will take place there must first be a change in individual consciousness. We must first become the change we wish to see. Based on the simple but scientifically and spiritually-based premise that if enough of us spend more time thinking about what is right rather than what is wrong, a transformation will occur, we truly believe that once enough of us on an individual level make the change in consciousness, then together we will change the world. This is our dream. This is our intent. This is our purpose for being here.
May we all come to live in a world where everyone is blessed by the presence of everyone else...
May we all come to know just how beautiful such a world can be.
Until next time,
May you be blessed with all things good:
Blessings to infinity and beyond!
Kate

Hi Kate - This may seem obvious but I have no idea what it means to bless other people. Is there something I should say outloud? Is it a prayer I say to myself for others? I really want to do this right - can you help?
Thank you.

Dear Carolyn,
A blessing is simplicity itself. Basically, it is choosing to see the highest and the best for the person or situation and then sending that thought forth with love. Say, for instance, that you are driving down a busy six-lane highway in heavy traffic. On the other side of the highway, as traffic speeds by headed in the opposite direciton, you notice a car pulled over with the hood up, and a man standing beside the car looking very upset. Though you would certainly help if you could, you are far from an exit and there is no way you can even get to where the stranded car is, much less offer any help. You can, however, offer a blessing. In your mind's eye, you can see the needed help arriving, the car tended to and any necessary repairs made, and the man able to get back in his car, and easily and effortlessly be on his way once more, with a big smile of relief and gratitude spreading across his face.
Seeing an image like this or, if you're not a visual person, thinking about such a scenario, takes really no time at all, but it is a positive energy construct that literally raises the vibration surrounding the man and the broken down vehicle, allowing good to flow in.
On the contrary, when we drive by such a scene and think "Poor fellow," or "Glad that's not me," or even simply observe, "He's havng bad luck," not only do such thoughts do absolutely nothing to raise the energy level around the man and his situation, they mire us in the same type of lower negative energy the man is experiencing. By blessing, instead, we not only raise the vibration surrounding the situation, we raise our own, as well. We bless and we are blessed in return.
As my dear friend Pierre Pradervand writes in his book, The Gentle Art of Blessing "The practice of blessing is a simple way to develop a constantly centered awareness. It is also a tool for growing in universal love and avoiding judgment. When you bless all those you meet in their total happiness and true integrity, without the slightest concern for their appearance, expression, race, class, sex or any other label, when you wish them the very best from your innermost being, it is impossible for your heart not to expand. From a narrow cubicle, it will become a temple without walls."
My personal favorite way of offering a blessing, by the way, is to imagine the person or situation being cradled in the arms of God. One instant of letting my mind ponder on this image and I am flooded with a sense of peace and well-being. Then I mentally affirm, "You are blessed and are a blessing" to the person, or "This is blessed and is a blessing" to the situation. It takes no more than a few seconds, but in that tiny span of time, I feel my heart and soul expandng, and the walls of my inner temple crumbling.
That is one of the reasons I believe, you see, that it is always better to bless.
I truly hope this has answered your question. Thank you so much for asking.
May you be blessed with all things good,
Kate

Your work on this new Blog, your website, the beautiful new movie - all are remarkable. Congratulations! I never follow links, watch movies or subscribe to lists, but yours caught me by surprise. I'm going to share the words from your new movie with a group of women in prison. One woman will go home Oct. 1st. I'll take this information to her on Tuesday when our group meets again! It will be her last meeting with us. Now I've found something to "give" to her as she returns to her family - your Web Address to remind her of the things she learned in the group and to help her "stay straight!" Thank you for your gift to her, to me and to others.

Thanks Kate for this wonderful site. I have been working with other blog writers on this on a MUCH smaller scale and it feels wonderful. It is so important to get outside of your own concerns and life and think about and wish the best for others. I maintain a blog on healing naturally because I healed myself of chronic illness and pain using mind/body and law of attraction methods. I am trying to empower others to look within and start to heal that way to make some of their outer symptoms diminish.

Thank you for all your work in your blessing experiment. I am having a lot of difficulty in my life right now and your inspirational movies have made my day many times. They almost always bring a tear to my eyes but I believe that tears are good for your soul and mind. Thank you and please don't stop blessing all you know. You are teaching a lot of people how to be a little kinder and more compassionate to others.

Hi, Kate!
I found your site after viewing one of your flash presentations on another site. Because I stopped believing in coincidences a long time ago, I know I was meant to find It's Better To Bless.
I have a young loved one dealing with alcoholism and must stop my own worthless feelings of despair for him and replace them with thoughts of healing and peace for him. Your site has empowered me; for that I thank you more than I can say.
Thank you for what you are doing here; our little planet needs all the blessings it can get.

I have found it a positive start to the day and so often they have felt relevant to things going on in my life. Like Marge - I dont believe in coincidences! I havent received them for a few weeks (dont know why) so have logged on with my home email. I hope that you are well - I think what you are doing is wonderful! My heart goes out to you, and although I can see that you must be in great distress, I know that I cannot even imagine what you must be going through. What I do know, however is that even these dark times in our lives can be turned to blessings, even as beautiful tapestrys contain dark threads in their weaving. I encourage you to look for and wait for the blessing to be revealed. Please know that even in these dark times when it is hard to feel the love from others, you are loved, beyond measure.

I am very happy I can leave this message of gratitute to you all: the people from the Blessing Project. I have subscribed to the Blessing Challenge and now I am one more fan of this practice of blessing. It has been an overwhelming process to me and some of my relatives. My relatives depend on my translation of the messages as we are all from Argentina and I got to know you because being a teacher of English I took up a course on NLP some years ago and my dear teacher gave my this website as a gift. That's how I met you! Well, to sum up, what I really wanted to communicate to you is: THANK YOU AND MAY YOU BE BLESSED!!

Bless you Kate and all who read this. This is very new to me but, I want to become a more patient and relaxed person and I believe this will help. I say a prayer everyday (not sure if I am doing it right) to thank God for my family and friends and to help those in need. I asked for a sign to help me stop drinking so much and one day it just didn't taste good. Is that a sign or what?! Anyway, I believe it is. Thank you for "showing up" on my screen with the Blessing Experiment Challenge. I will try my best.
May you all be blessed.

Kate- I,too, have long held the thought that we are meant to be a blessing to the world around us but there were so many times in my life that I did not feel blessed. Then may 5,2006 I had open heart surgery to replace a valve. Long before the actual surgery, I was over-taken by great peace. I just knew everything would be fine and it was! I felt blessed to have been given a second chance at life. Every day before I get up and every night before I fall asleep, I pray that God show me how to be a blessing to others today. I find on the days that I have taken my focus off doing this, I can fall into the pit of despair over whatever challenge I am dealing with. Thank goodness it doesn't take me long to realize that I've gotten off track.
One of my favorite sayings is " You cannot hold a torch to light another's path without brightening your own."
Your blessing challenge will light many paths and in so doing will brighten your own. Thank you and May God Bless You.

Hi Kate,
I love the work you are doing in the world. We need more people like you out there spreading the word. There are so many lost people, who have no idea of who they really are and the potential they possess.
We can each be a blessing in so many ways to others, whether it be in a small, or monumental way. Your Blessing work is very important. Thank you for sharing it with the world.
Walk in Peace,
Debra Oakland

Dearest Kate, Thank you dearly for your explanation of the last line in your daily blessings. You don't have to explaing anything to me. I feel wonderful every time you bless me. If some people don't like it they should unsuscribe and definitly it will be only their loss. I live in your world and have found peace and love in my life since I started recieving your blessings all the way down here in Mexico. Every day I also send you my blessings and Thank God for permitting me to cross you path. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You're a cherished blessing to me. Your far away friend, Martha

Dear Debra,
I know it seems totally contrary to what the world says, but the very best way to deal with pain of any kind is to face it squarely, bless it, embrace it and make friends with it. When we begin to realize that everything in our lives happens for a beneficial reason and it slowly dawns that pain is not present to hurt but to help, then we find ourselves more able to stop pushing against the pain and resisting it. Once the resistance is gone; once we are willing to face the pain and allow its presence, then the pain begins to lessen. As crazy as it seems, Debra, it is often only when we stop fighting the pain and start blessing it and thanking the universe for it that we are able to be rid of it.
And we are all of us, each and every one, a divine work in progress. Isn't it wonderful that that is so.
Love, light and blessings,
Kate
