Heartfelt Blessing for January 25th: Eyes of Wonder

Listen to Today's Heartfelt Blessing

Eyes of Wonder

He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead.

— Albert Einstein

As small children we were all wonder experts. We found magic everywhere. In the sunlight sparkle of a yellow leaf, the wet shine of a small green frog, or the delightful gurgle of a concrete water fountain. Through the new eyes of early childhood, we discovered wonder wherever our gaze fell. And then we educated ourselves right out of it.

We can reclaim the wonder, however. All we need to do is begin, once more, to observe the world around us. Really look at it, returning to our childlike ability to shut out all the chaos and clutter and focus only on that which is before us, giving it our rapt attention, zooming in on its tiniest details. When we do this, we become as little children, and in this most magical way, discover that the kingdom of heaven is everywhere we look.

May you never lose your ability to be awestruck.

And may you also be aware that you are loved beyond measure
and a cherished blessing to me.

Until tomorrow, may your day be filled
with all things good,

Kate

I found you through your comment on Paulo Coelho's blog. Were you inspired in today's wonderful praise for awe by his quote of the day, or is synchronicity at work again? I'll be checking back in, thank you for this affirming place.

What a wonderful reminder to stop and enjoy all the beautiful things God created for us here on Earth. There are so many sights and sounds to get pleasure from while we live briefly. I await with great anticipation to experience eternal life in Heaven and worship the almighty creator of all.

Thanks Meredith. Sometimes my "o's" turn into "awes!" and get away from me. :-} Thanks for letting me know.

I spent about 50 years working out in the country. First I worked as a cowboy and then run a bulldozer to build erosion control structures to stop erosion and supply water for livestock. I never lost my ability to see animals and plants in nature do and grow. There is always something different in the actions of animals and difference in the color or shape of plants, eeven the ones we are used to seeing every day. The sky, the rainbows and the clouds are everyone different. I can well understand your artical today and really liked it. Hope a lot of people will pay attention to it and learn from it. Lee

Dear Kate, Thank you so much for you blessings! They give me strength to go on. There are so many negative things happening in this world, but your words are "reminding" me how good life really is and how lucky I am! As Albert Einstein wrote: "He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead" is very true! Thank you again, Kate. Have a nice day and God Bless you! Ragnhild
